UniProt Tools [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Protocols in Bioinformatics, 2016
AbstractThe Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) is a comprehensive resource for protein sequence and annotation data (UniProt Consortium, 2015). The UniProt Web site receives ∼400,000 unique visitors per month and is the primary means to access UniProt. Along with various datasets that you can search, UniProt provides three main tools.

A Study of Low-Frequency Vibration-Assisted Bandsawing of Metallic Parts

open access: yesJournal of Machine Engineering, 2023
Sawing is often the first work step in the metal cutting production chain. Especially for larger workpieces, bandsawing is used for this purpose. Nevertheless, studies on sawing have led a niche existence in the research landscape for a long time ...

Adiabatic Blanking: Influence of Clearance, Impact Energy, and Velocity on the Blanked Surface

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2021
In contrast to other cutting processes, adiabatic blanking typically features high blanking velocities (>3 m/s), which can lead to the formation of adiabatic shear bands in the blanking surface.

Simulation tools for future interferometers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
For the design and commissioning of the LIGO interferometer, simulation tools have been used explicitly and implicitly. The requirement of the advanced LIGO interferometer is much more demanding than the first generation interferometer.

Monitoring of the Average Cutting Forces from Controller Signals using Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesJournal of Machine Engineering, 2022
A new approach is presented to monitor the average cutting forces that are used for the calculation of the average cutting coefficients through neural networks using available controller signals. The cutting forces and the relevant controller signals are

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Optimisation of component performance via structuring

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
Ecological and economic reasons are forcing industry to improve efficiency and to save energy and resources by reducing product weight. In current product designs often insufficient geometric stiffness of the part prohibits exploiting the full potential ...
