Wear resistance is a limitation of artificial denture teeth. Improving the wear resistance of conventional artificial denture teeth is of value to prosthodontic patients. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the wear resistance and hardness of modified polymethyl methacrylate artificial denture teeth compared to 5 commercially available ...

The Artificial Tooth-Denture Base Joint
The Journal of Adhesion, 1978Abstract Fracture mechanics methods have recently been applied to predict strength of adhesive systems. In this paper, the tooth-denture base bond strength is used to demonstrate the application of these techniques. Because of the complex geometric and material parameters involved, a finite element computer program was required to obtain the strain ...

Roles of the artificial tooth arch during swallowing in edentates
Journal of Prosthodontic Research, 2010This study aimed to clarify the role of the artificial tooth arch (ATA) during swallowing in edentates. The tongue pressures, activities of the masseter and suprahyoid muscles, and laryngeal and mandibular movements when swallowing saliva, water, pudding, and corned beef were measured simultaneously using experimental dentures with and without an ATA ...

Interaction of streptococcal lipoteichoic acid with artificial tooth pellicle
Archives of Oral Biology, 1989Artificial pellicles were prepared by coating hydroxyapatite beads with whole saliva. Radiolabelled lipoteichoic acid was isolated from Streptococcus sanguis NCTC 7863 by phenol extraction. Various concentrations of radiolabelled lipoteichoic acid were mixed with saliva-coated hydroxyapatite in the presence and absence of high ionic strength phosphate ...

Thermal Analysis Studies on Sound and Artificially Decalcified Tooth Enamel
Caries Research, 2009Sound and artificially decalcified enamel has been studied by dynamic and static thermal analysis. Weight losses mainly due to water release occur in 3 temperature ranges: 20–150, 150–400 and 400–550 °C. Special attention has been given to water release occurring in the range 150–400 °C. Here the weight losses for sound and carious enamel are 1.9 ± 0.3

A technique for preparing an artificial tooth for endodontic access preparation
Journal of Endodontics, 1980Endodontic access preparations are extremely important. These procedures are taught using extracted teeth which often have deficiencies. A technique to produce an artificial tooth containing a hollow pulpal space has been described. This tooth may serve as a teaching aid in developing motor skills for access preparation.
