Bleaching of a discoloured non‐vital tooth: use of a sodium perborate/water paste as the bleaching agent

International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, 1997
Summary. Bleaching materials containing hydrogen peroxide have been used successfully for the treatment of discoloured non‐vital teeth; however, their use has occasionally been associated with external root resorption. Some evidence exists that sodium perborate mixed with water is as effective as sodium perborate mixed with hydrogen peroxide.

Effectiveness of a desensitizing agent before in-office tooth bleaching in restored teeth

Clinical Oral Investigations, 2013
The aim of this clinical trial was to evaluate the effectiveness and tooth sensitivity associated with bleaching in patients with composite restorations in anterior teeth after the application of a desensitizing agent.Bleaching was performed with 35 % hydrogen peroxide gel in 30 patients with composite restorations in anterior teeth, divided according ...

The Role of Peroxide Based Bleaching Agents in the Induction of Tooth Sensitivity

Revista de Chimie, 2017
Tooth whitening is increasingly requested lately due to increased aesthetic demands of patients. The aim of our study was to analyse if there are differences, in terms of tooth sensitivity, between at-home and in-office bleaching agents used in tooth whitening, and also, if a higher concentration of bleaching agents leads to increased the tooth ...

TOXICOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS OF TOOTH BLEACHING USING PEROXIDE-CONTAINING AGENTS

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1997
Peroxides have been used for tooth bleaching for more than 100 years. Besides those administered in the dental office, agents for at-home bleaching have become popular. To date, there have been no published significant adverse effects caused by dentist-monitored, at-home bleaching agents.

Impact of remineralizing agents on enamel microhardness recovery after in-office tooth bleaching therapies

Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 2012
It has been shown that bleaching with 35/38% hydrogen peroxides may alter both enamel morphology and mineral content. This study aimed to analyze the morphology and microhardness of enamel bleached with in-office hydrogen peroxides and exposed toremineralizing agents. After recording initial enamel morphology and microhardness, 60 bovine incisors were ...

The use of desensitizing agents during in-office bleaching might not decrease tooth bleaching sensitivity: a randomized clinical trial.

The international journal of esthetic dentistry, 2022
Due to controversial results in relation to the influence of desensitizing agents on sensitivity during bleaching, the present study evaluated the degree of tooth bleaching sensitivity, color change, and patient acceptability of desensitizing agents containing potassium nitrate/sodium fluoride (PNF) or nanostructured calcium phosphate (N) associated ...

[Potentialities of in vitro evaluation of the efficiency and safety of agents for devitalized tooth bleaching].

Stomatologiia, 2003
Pressing problems in bleaching devital teeth are discussed. Bleaching Endoperox and Brilliant were studied in vitro. For evaluating the safety of devital teeth bleaching, the microhardness of dental tissues was evaluated after intra-crown bleaching. The most significant changes in microhardness were observed in the coat dentin area.
