Fgf9 promotes incisor dental epithelial stem cell survival and enamel formation

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy
Background Understanding the role of cytokines in tooth development is critical for advancing dental tissue engineering. Fibroblast growth factor 9 (FGF9) is the only FGF consistently expressed throughout dental epithelial tissue, from the initiation of ...

Quantitative micro‐XRF combined with X‐ray imaging reveals correlations between Zn concentration and dentin tubule porosity across entire teeth

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
The combination of calibrated micro‐CT and quantitative micro‐XRF measurement facilitates the correlation of density and composition in the 3D macro‐structure of teeth. Zn concentration in dentin increases by a factor of 10 toward the pulp. Incidentally, the overall density decreases, showing an association between Zn and the dentin tissue porosity ...

A reappraisal of the Middle to Later Stone Age prehistory of Morocco Réévaluer la préhistoire du Maroc, du Middle Stone Age au Later Stone Age

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Over the last 25 years, perceptions of the early prehistory of Northwest Africa have undergone radical changes due to new fieldwork projects and a corresponding growth in scientific interest in the region. Much of this work has been focused in Morocco, known for its extremely rich fossil and archaeological records in caves and rock shelters.

Geological Substrate Is Related to Tooth Senescence and Population Dynamic: The Case Study of Alpine Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra L.)

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
In Alpine chamois, the complete wear of the first molar coincides with the beginning of senescence and the progress of tooth wear on calcareous substrate is slower than the one on other substrates, increasing life expectancy. Thus, the first molar wear may actually be considered as an effective descriptor of senescence stage.

Effect Of Soft Drink To Demineralization On The Tooth Enamel By Addition Of Sodium Fluoride

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemical Research, 2014
This research was carried to determine the influence of soft drink with tooth, determine power to retard of NaF at the demineralization of tooth enamel and to determine of Calcium and Phosphate total which dissolve.

Body Size Regulates Niche Overlap Asymmetry in the Subtropical Andes Rain Shadow: Isotopic Paleoecology of Oligocene South American Ungulates

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study provides the first isotopic analysis of Oligocene mammals from Quebrada Fiera, Mendoza, Argentina, filling a major gap in South American paleontology. It reveals a latitudinal gradient in aridity due to the Andean rain shadow and highlights the role of (semi)permanent water bodies in sustaining diverse herbivore communities. Additionally, it

Inferring bird migration from bone isotopes and histology: A fossil‐friendly methodological framework

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Bird seasonal migration is a remarkable biogeographic phenomenon, yet its deep‐time origin(s) and evolutionary history remain poorly understood, with the bird fossil record largely overlooked. This study explores the predictability of bird migratory behaviour from the oxygen isotope composition of their bone apatite phosphate (δ18Op), a ...
