Clinical features are an initial loss of tooth shine or luster, followed by flattening of convex structures, and, with continuing acid exposure, concavities form on smooth surfaces, or grooving and cupping occur on incisal/occlusal surfaces.

Global Prevalence of Erosive Tooth Wear
Erosive tooth wear (ETW) is a common phenomenon in the general population. Furthermore, people with eating disorders or reflux, special diets, regular consumption of acidic foods and beverages, some medications or drugs, and occupational exposure to acids, including athletes, are at high risk for ETW. The Role of Fluoride in Erosive Tooth Wear
Fluoride plays a crucial role in preventing erosive tooth wear, with varying effectiveness depending on the fluoride compound and dental tissues involved. Fluoride combined with stannous (F/Sn) and titanium tetrafluoride (TiF4) shows superior effects compared to other fluoride compounds, mainly due to the formation of acid-resistant layers (TiF4 and F ...Carolina Ganss +2 more

Genetic Aspects on Erosive Tooth Wear
Erosive tooth wear is a gene-environmental model. It requires the exposure to acids, typically from the diet or from the gastric content of the host, and shows variation among individuals and populations, which suggests it to be determined by more than one gene, each with small individual effects.openaire +2 more sources
Prevalence of Erosive Tooth Wear in Risk Groups
2014Individuals have different risks for developing erosive lesions depending on background, behavioural, dietary and medical variables. It is anticipated that people with regular impact of gastric juice, i.e. patients with eating disorders and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) have a specially high risk of developing dental erosions; the same could ...
