Mechanical weakening of devitalized teeth: three-dimensional Finite Element Analysis and prediction of tooth fracture.

International Endodontic Journal, 2015
AIM To determine to which extent cavity preparation and each step of dentine removal in the process of root canal treatment (access cavity preparation and root canal enlargement) both individually and jointly contribute to the weakening of the tooth ...

Tooth fractures in the Krapina Neandertals

Journal of Human Evolution, 2018
Dental fractures can be produced during life or post-mortem. Ante-mortem chipping may be indicative of different uses of the dentition in masticatory and non-masticatory activities related to variable diets and behaviors. The Krapina collection (Croatia, 130,000 years BP), thanks to the large number of teeth (293 teeth and tooth fragments) within it ...

Tooth fracture within the African carnivore guild: the influence of intraguild competition and resource availability

, 2017
Although tooth fracture may have severe energetic and behavioural implications for carnivores, it occurs commonly, perhaps as a result of a high risk diet and lifestyle.

Investigations on the tooth root bending strength and the fatigue fracture characteristics of case-carburized and shot-peened gears of different sizes

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2019
This paper contains data of the research project FVA 293 III by Schurer et al. and investigates the tooth root bending strength and the fatigue fracture characteristics of case-carburized and shot-peened gears of different sizes.

Non-barotraumatic tooth fracture during scuba diving.

Aviation Space and Environmental Medicine, 2013
BACKGROUND When dental pain or tooth fracture occurs during diving, variations in atmospheric pressure are usually considered as etiology. CASE REPORT We present a case of a military diver referred for dental pain which appeared during diving ...

Fracture resistance of simulated immature tooth roots reinforced with MTA or restorative materials.

Dental Traumatology, 2016
BACKGROUND/AIM Immature endodontically treated teeth may require reinforcing to reduce the risk of root fracture. This study assessed the fracture resistance of simulated immature tooth roots reinforced with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) or two ...

Diagnostic of tooth fractures with the Vistascan system

Dental Traumatology, 2008
Abstract –  Compared with conventional films digital radiography allows a wide range of exposure and scanner settings. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the evaluation of tooth fractures depending on variations of exposure dose, scanner settings and surrounding tissues. Extracted human teeth were exposed separately and

Tooth fracture in vivo and in vitro

Journal of Dentistry, 1992
The incidence, causes and methods of investigating tooth fracture are reviewed. This is a problem of increasing clinical significance, with many predisposing factors. Large restorations and extensive carious lesions tend to be associated with most fractures, with fracture incidence being higher in first permanent molars than other tooth types ...

Repair technique for a fractured crowned tooth

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1977
A simple technique is presented in which an existing crown can be replaced on a broken endodontically treated tooth in one appointment. This can reduce the working time and expense required for a new crown.

Restoration of a fractured anterior tooth

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1978
A fragment of tooth missing for three years was found in the patients' lower lip. The fragment was surgically removed and cleaned. It was restored to its original position on the maxillary left incisor with an acid etch resin technique. After three months, the restoration was satisfactory.
