Micro-osteoperforations and Its Effect on the Rate of Tooth Movement: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dentistry, 2020
Prolonged orthodontic treatments have inconvenienced patients and clinicians alike. Surgically assisted techniques for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement have shown promising results in the literature over the years. The minimally invasive nature of

CRP Deficiency Rescues Periodontitis‐Induced Hippocampal Neurogenesis Impairment by Suppressing OPC‐Derived BMP4 Signaling in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic periodontitis elevates circulating CRP, which enters the hippocampus to upregulate BMP4 in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), thereby impairing neurogenesis and inducing anxiety/depression‐like behaviors in rats. Counteracting this pathway, CRP deficiency helps confer functional resilience to OPCs.

Effect Of Tweak On Orthodontic Tooth Movement And Potential Mechanisms

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Aim or purpose: To establish an orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) model and observe the effects of different concentrations of TWEAK on the rate of tooth movement, thereby identifying the optimal concentration of TWEAK for influencing OTM.

Effect of Cytokines on Osteoclast Formation and Bone Resorption during Mechanical Force Loading of the Periodontal Membrane

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Mechanical force loading exerts important effects on the skeleton by controlling bone mass and strength. Several in vivo experimental models evaluating the effects of mechanical loading on bone metabolism have been reported. Orthodontic tooth movement is

Delayed tooth movement in Runx2+/− mice associated with mTORC2 in stretch-induced bone formation

open access: yesBone Reports, 2020
Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) is an essential transcription factor for osteoblast differentiation, and is activated by mechanical stress to promote osteoblast function.

Retrograde nerve growth factor signaling modulates tooth mechanical hyperalgesia induced by orthodontic tooth movement via acid-sensing ion channel 3

open access: yesInternational Journal of Oral Science, 2021
Orthodontic tooth movement elicits alveolar bone remodeling and orofacial pain that is manifested by tooth mechanical hyperalgesia. Nerve growth factor (NGF) is upregulated in periodontium and may modulate tooth mechanical hyperalgesia.

Leptin levels in gingival crevicular fluid during orthodontic tooth movement

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2021
Aim: To evaluate the levels of leptin in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) during orthodontic tooth movement and to find the role of leptin as a mediator for tooth movement. Materials and Methods: GCF was collected from 25 subjects and the levels of leptin

A new rhynchocephalian from the late jurassic of Germany with a dentition that is unique amongst tetrapods. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Rhynchocephalians, the sister group of squamates (lizards and snakes), are only represented by the single genus Sphenodon today. This taxon is often considered to represent a very conservative lineage.

Construction of a MOF‐Based Snap‐Top Delivery Nanosystem for Powerful Dual‐Responsive Synergistic Colitis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A snap‐top delivery nanosystem based on an azobenzene metal–organic framework achieves targeted release of 6‐mercaptopurine via acid‐stable frameworks and hypoxia/pH dual‐responsive β‐cyclodextrin gates. This multifunctional platform integrates three synergistic mechanisms: precision drug delivery to inflammatory sites, intrinsic antioxidant properties
