Operating time for wire ligation with self‐ligating and conventional brackets: A standardized in vitro study

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1456-1466, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective Operating time is one of the main advantages attributed from the literature to the use of self‐ligating brackets (SLB). The aim of this study is to investigate the time needed for a complete archwire change procedure with conventional brackets (CB) and SLBs in a standardized in vitro research setting, comparing operators with ...

Supervariate Gel Transforms into Various Biominerals in Salt Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is revealed that common calcium‐based biominerals can form from a stable, non‐toxic ‘supervariate’ gel. This tunable gel selectively yields calcite or hydroxyapatite in carbonate/phosphate solutions, while CaCl₂ facilitates the formation of dihydrate calcium pyrophosphate, which converts to hydroxyapatite upon drying. These findings provide insights

Fatigue behavior of removable partial denture cast and laser‐sintered cobalt‐chromium (CoCr) and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) clasp materials

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1496-1504, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective To investigate the fatigue behavior of cast and laser‐sintered cobalt‐chromium (CoCr) and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) material for a removable partial denture (RPD) clasps. Methods Dumbbell‐shaped specimens were digitally designed with the center part of the dumbbell being a half‐round shape at the cross‐sectional dimension of 1.25 ...

A Bio‐Inspired Perspective on Materials Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses natural materials as inspiration for sustainable engineering designs and the processing of materials. First, circularity, longevity, parsimony, and activity are presented as essential material paradigms. The perspective then uses many examples of natural and technical materials to introduce principles such as oligo ...

Effect of preparation design on marginal adaptation and fracture strength of ceramic occlusal veneers: A systematic review

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1391-1403, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives This systematic review aims to investigate the effect of different preparation designs on the marginal fit and fracture strength of ceramic occlusal veneers. Materials and Methods Based on the PICO question and the search terms, an electronic search was performed in Google Scholar, PubMed (MEDLINE), Scopus, Cochrane Library, Web of ...

Linear Dimensional Change in Acrylic Denture Teeth Positions Factored by Different Processing Techniques and Occlusal Forms: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The current literature lacks substantial evidence for the effect of denture base processing techniques and posterior denture tooth forms on denture tooth shifts due to denture base resin polymerization.

Thickness and yttria percentage influences the fracture resistance of laminate veneer zirconia restorations

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1413-1420, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives Mechanical properties are cardinal for the long‐term clinical success of laminate veneer restorations but the selection of new restorative materials should ideally be based on clinical evidence, therefore, in vitro testing of dental materials is a good alternative to evaluate their properties and understand their behavior so this ...
