Influence of Tooth Profile Modification on Helical Gear Durability

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2002
A nonlinear finite element contact mechanics model of a helical gear pair was used to study the effect of intentional tooth profile modifications on durability of helical gear pairs. Both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) modifications were considered.

A study on tooth profile modification of cycloid planetary gear drives with tooth number difference of two

Forschung im Ingenieurwesen, 2019
In the previous study, the authors showed the results that the cycloid gear pair with tooth number difference of two does not only increase the contact ratio and decrease the maximum shared load of the individual contact tooth pair, but also reduce the bearing loads of the cranks slightly.

The optimisation of bevel gear tooth in mesh with various types of profile modifications

International Journal of Modelling, Identification and Control, 2010
According to the relationship between the torsional mesh stiffness and the noise, the use of a rotated original tooth profile, circular curve and line curve as the form of the modified profile curve respectively is developed for bevel gear in order to depress the vibration and decrease the noise.

Tooth Profile Modification of Sprocket in Dual Meshing Silent Chain

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Dual meshing silent chain mechanism can reduce the polygon action. In order to realize the conjugate meshing, the sprocket of the dual meshing silent chain mechanism is supposed to be an involute sprocket with a large pressure angle and negative modifying coefficient.

Research on Tooth Profile Modification of the Herringbone Planetary Gear Train

Volume 10: ASME 2015 Power Transmission and Gearing Conference; 23rd Reliability, Stress Analysis, and Failure Prevention Conference, 2015
A bending-torsional coupled nonlinear dynamic model which contains the modification parameters of herringbone planetary gear train is presented. A formula of modification incentive is analyzed and deduced. The impact of the straight line and parabolic modification parameters on the amplitude of system transmission error is researched.

Effect of tooth profile modification on the scoring resistance of spur gears

Wear, 1982
Abstract Using power-circulating gear test rigs, the scoring resistance of gears with tooth profile modification and gears without tooth profile modification, both of which were subjected to different amounts of addendum modification, was studied.

Effect of tooth profile modification on lubrication performance of a cycloid drive

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2015
A numerical study on contact performance of a cycloid drive lubricated with the grease is conducted. The effect of the tooth profile modification on lubrication performance is emphasized. Four profile modification methods are proposed and their influences on the length of the line of action, the pressure and the film thickness are compared.
