The Role of Bone and Root Resorption on the Biomechanical Behavior of Mandibular Anterior Teeth Subjected to Orthodontic Forces: A Finite Element Approach

open access: yesBiomedicines
Aims: This study was conducted to systematically evaluate the biomechanical impact of varying degrees of root and bone resorption resulting from periodontitis and orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) on the mandibular anterior teeth.

Research advances in internal tooth resorption [PDF]

open access: yes精准医学杂志
As a rare pulp lesion, internal tooth resorption often has no obvio clinical symptoms and signs and is only accidentally identified during medical imaging examination, and its diagnosis and treatment have always been a difficult issue for dentists ...

Maxillary expansion in an animal model with light, continuous force [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objectives: Maxillary constriction is routinely addressed with rapid maxillary expansion (RME). However, the heavy forces delivered by most RME appliances to expand the palate may lead to deleterious effects on the teeth and supporting tissues.

Tooth resorption part II - external resorption: Case series

open access: yesJournal of Conservative Dentistry, 2013
External tooth resorption usually follows trauma to the periodontal ligament. It can be classified into five categories based on its clinical and histological manifestations. Calcium hydroxide has long been used as an intracanal medicament to slow down the resorption process due to its alkaline pH.

Using Micro-Computed Tomography to Evaluate the Dynamics of Orthodontically Induced Root Resorption Repair in a Rat Model. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
To observe dynamic changes in root resorption repair, tooth movement relapse and alveolar bone microstructure following the application of orthodontic force.Forces of 20 g, 50 g or 100 g were delivered to the left maxillary first molars of fifteen 10 ...

Keratoprostheses for corneal blindness: a review of contemporary devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
According to the World Health Organization, globally 4.9 million are blind due to corneal pathology. Corneal transplantation is successful and curative of the blindness for a majority of these cases. However, it is less successful in a number of diseases

CRP Deficiency Rescues Periodontitis‐Induced Hippocampal Neurogenesis Impairment by Suppressing OPC‐Derived BMP4 Signaling in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic periodontitis elevates circulating CRP, which enters the hippocampus to upregulate BMP4 in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), thereby impairing neurogenesis and inducing anxiety/depression‐like behaviors in rats. Counteracting this pathway, CRP deficiency helps confer functional resilience to OPCs.

Risk prediction model of impacted supernumerary tooth-associated root resorption in children based on cone-beam computed tomography analysis: a case control study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background External surface resorption is pressure-induced resorption and occurs on the external surface of the root, pressure exerted by impacted teeth, is common causes of external surface resorption.

Treatment of Internal Resorption with Mineral Trioxide Aggregates: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2013
Tooth resorption is a common sequel which follows injuries or irritation to the periodontal ligament and/or tooth pulp. The course of tooth resorption involves an elaborate interaction among inflammatory cells, resorbing cells, and hard tissue ...
