Cortical bone distribution in the human mandibular symphysis: Ontogenic and morphometric approaches in archeological context

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The human mandibular symphysis concentrates multiaxial loads during function and remodels throughout growth, but the precise mechanisms underlying cortical bone shape during growth remain relatively unexplored. Approaches based solely on thickness or external cortical contours provide only partial insights and do not capture the functional ...

An interdisciplinary approach to treat crown‑root‑fractured tooth

open access: yes, 2014
Restoration of a crown‑root subgingival fractured tooth, especially at anterior aesthetic zones is still a great challenge for restorative dentists. Crown lengthening procedure alone has the disadvantage of high gingival curve of the final restoration ...

Method of calculation and test of dynamic tooth root strain for high-contact-ratio spur gears

open access: yesJixie chuandong
ObjectiveAiming at the difference of load sharing and dynamic characteristics between high-contact-ratio spur gears and conventional spur gears, a method for calculating the dynamic tooth root strain was proposed considering the dynamic characteristics ...

Inter‐ and intraspecific variation in theropod dinosaur dental microwear and its palaeoecological implications

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Differences in skull and tooth morphology, stomach contents, and estimated bite force between medium‐to‐large sized (≥100 kg) predatory theropod dinosaurs have long been suspected to correlate with differences in their diets and dietary guilds (e.g., hypercarnivory, piscivory).

A Case of Tooth Autotransplantation for an Abutment Tooth of a Fixed Partial Denture

open access: yes, 2003
P(論文)A case of fixed partial denture with autogenous tooth transplantation is reported in this paper. The maxillary left third molar of a 37-year-old male patient was transplanted in mandibular left second molar position, which had been lost a few years ...

Previously undocumented regional variability in crab‐eating macaque skull sexual dimorphism and its implications for biological and morphometric studies

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract In a large sample of adult crab‐eating macaques, we quantified sexual dimorphism in size, shape, and covariance across the whole skull and among anatomical regions of the cranium and mandible. All regions showed significant mean sex differences, but the magnitude of size and shape dimorphism varied substantially.

Calculation of Tooth Root Bending Fatigue Life with Considering the Influence of Roughness Parameter Ra

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2018
The stress concentration effect of surface topography plays an important role in the fatigue properties of gears. The quantitative analysis method of the effect of surface topography on gear fatigue performance is the basic work of an in-depth study of ...
