Elastic Energy Storage in Biological Materials: Internal Stresses and Their Functionality
Harnessing and storing internally generated elastic energy is a clever strategy by biological materials to perform functions like shape transformation, movement, and predation. This review explores how biological systems manipulate mechanisms like atomic or protein integration into minerals, protein conformational shifts, phase transitions, and osmotic

Root Resorption in Relation to Orthodontic Tooth Movement [PDF]
Root resorption is an undesirable sequela of orthodontic tooth movement. The odontoclasts are responsible for root resorption and the process of hyalinization is known to preceed the orthodontic root resorption. It is found that there are several predisposing factors, therefore an evaluation of these factors should be done by careful examination of ...

Electrically‐Driven 2D Semiconductor Microcavity Laser
The first electrically‐driven 2D semiconductor microcavity laser is achieved at room temperature under AC voltage driving conditions. The demonstration of the compact 2D TMDC laser establishes a new area of research to assist with the implementation of diverse 2D material‐based practical photonic devices and integrated circuits in the future.

A vertical fracture of the tooth root, which is not diagnosed in time, may lead to periodontitis. On the other hand, if the root fracture is diagnosed, whereas in fact it is not, then the patient will remove the tooth on the basis of an error in the ...

This study confirms that extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) or HEK293F cells overexpressing CD24 have anti‐inflammatory effects in macrophages and monocytes. Further loading either of these EVs with an anti‐Myd88 peptide synergistically enhanced the anti‐inflammatory effects of the EVs.

Bmp9 modulates cell proliferation and intercellular junctions in HERS during tooth root development
Tooth formation is a highly orchestrated process that precisely regulates the size and shape of the tooth. During typical tooth development, Hertwig's epithelial root sheath (HERS) interacts with mesenchymal cells to direct the elongation of the tooth ...
