Transradial embolization of a life-threatening tooth extraction socket hemorrhage and pseudoaneurysm

Interventional Neuroradiology, 2022
Embolization of oral hemorrhages due to tooth extraction, although rare, has been previously described. 1–4 In this video we present a unique case in which a life-threatening tooth extraction hemorrhage was incontrollable with local compression or surgical cauterization.

Effect of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy on periodontally infected tooth sockets in rats

Lasers in Medical Science, 2013
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) in alveolar treatment of areas with induced periodontitis. Thirty male Wistar rats were subjected to ligature-induced periodontal disease (PD) in the first left inferior molars, while the right side molars did not receive ligatures.

Effects of resveratrol on bone‐healing capacity in the mouse tooth extraction socket

Journal of Periodontal Research, 2019
AbstractBackground and ObjectiveAfter tooth extraction, the extraction socket undergoes several steps of soft and hard tissue healing. The healing process of the extraction socket is modulated by a range of signaling factors and biochemical agents.

Effect on periodontal healing of saline irrigation of the tooth socket before replantation

Dental Traumatology, 1987
Abstract The following investigation was designed to study the healing of replanted teeth when the formation of a blood coagulum in the alveolar socket is avoided as much as possible before replantation. Eighteen maxillary incisors from 4 beagle dogs were used.

Timeframe of socket cortication after tooth extraction: A retrospective radiographic study

Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2017
AbstractObjectivesTo assess the timeframe between tooth extraction and radiographically detectable socket cortication in humans.MethodsTwo hundred and fifty patients with a CT scan ≤36 months after tooth extraction were included. First, three orthoradial multiplanar reconstruction slices, representing the major part of the extraction socket, were ...

Tissue response to a haemostatic alginate wound dressing in tooth extraction sockets

British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1993
Kaltostat is a new haemostatic wound dressing composed of non-woven sodium calcium alginate fibres, and was originally developed to cover exposed wounds of the skin. A histopathological study was undertaken to determine the tissue response to Kaltostat in healing tooth sockets, to obtain a comparison with oxidised regenerated cellulose (Surgicel ...

Effects of systemic cortisone on the healing of tooth sockets in rats

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1978
Young male rats were divided randomly into experimental and control groups of twenty-seven each. Animals in the experimental group received daily subcutaneous injections of cortisone, in dosages sufficient to allow only slight gains in weight during the 38--day study period, whereas animals in the control group received a similar volume of saline ...

Bone induction in healing tooth sockets using piezo-electric foil

Journal of Dentistry, 1982
By placing Electret piezo sheet film in a healing tooth socket it was found that the resultant edentulous space was wider and higher than the corresponding control. Histologically osteoid was produced faster, especially at the socket rim, and the trabeculas were thicker and were formed faster than in the control.
