Pediatrics, 1981How concerned should we pediatricians be about the fact that young children frequently swallow fluoridated dentifrices while brushing their teeth? The recent recommendation of the Academy's Committee on Nutrition for a decrease from 0.5 to 0.25 mg/day for children less than 2 years of age was "to reduce the possibility of mild fluorosis."
