Top-and-Seat-Angle Connections and End-Plate Connections: Snug vs. Fully Pretensioned Bolts
Engineering Journal, 1991The effect of partially pretensioned bolts has been examined through research conducted at the ATLSS center of Lehigh University. Extended end-plate and top-and-seat-angle connections incorporating fully pretensioned and snugtight bolts were tested. Fully pretensioned bolts were tightened to 70% of their ultimate strength (as specified by AISC), and ...

Low-Cycle Variable Amplitude Fatigue Modeling of Top-and-Seat Angle Connections
Engineering Journal, 1995A set of variable amplitude tests was performed on a commonly used type of semi-rigid connection: the top-and seat angle. Variable amplitude tests included incremental decremental and step tests to investigate the sequence effects on cyclic and low-cycle fatigue behavior for this class of beam column connection.

Experimental Research on Hysteretic Behavior of Top-Seat Angles Beam-Column Connections
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012Abstract. Two full-scale specimens of angles steel using H-section member had been conducted. The specimens were subjected to cyclic reversal loading simulating earthquake effects on a steel moment-resisting force. The objective of the work is to determine the behavior of these connections under cyclic reversal loading well into the inelastic range and

Low-Cycle Fatigue Behavior of Semi-Rigid Top-and-Seat Angle Connections
Engineering Journal, 1994Constant amplitude reversed cyclic load tests were performed to investigate the low-cycle fatigue behavior of a commonly used class of semi-rigid connection: the top-andseat angle. All specimens had the same geometrical properties. The test results show that the plastic moment capacity and connection stiffness are sensitive to how the nut and bolts are

The aim of the present paper is the experimental and numerical investigation of the unilateral contact effect to the structural response of top and seated angle with double web angle bolted connections. The experimental study is focused on the study of ductility, deformability, moment capacity, bolts prying force and contact zone of these connections ...

Cyclic mechanical model of semirigid top and seat and double web angle connections
Steel and Composite Structures, 2006In this paper, a cyclic mechanical model is presented to simulate the behaviour of top and seat with web angle beam-to-column connections. The introduced mechanical model is compared with Eurocode 3 Annex J, its extension, and with experimental data.

The Effect of Welding Length of Semi-Rigid Connections With Top and Seat Angles
2015Taking into account the behavior of connection in analysis and design of steel frames is important due to presenting the actual behavior of frames. So, the behavior of the connections should be well known. The connections form various moment-rotation curves according to the type of connection, the elements of connection and the shape of placement ...
