Application of fractal theory to top-coal caving
Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2008Abstract The experiences of underground coal mining in China show that coal in a thick hard coal seam with a hard roof, the so-called “double hard coal seam”, is difficult to be excavated by top-coal caving technique. In order to solve the problem, a top-coal weakening technique is proposed in this paper.

Underground coal production at GLE Turkey was originally won from conventional longwall mining (drill and blast) and more recently from the innovative use of the mechanised longwall top coal caving method. This latter method was introduced to gain maximum tonnage from the extraction of an 8 m lignite coal seam under very difficult mining conditions ...

This study investigates the flow and caving characteristics of top coal and roof rock, as well as top coal loss pattern in the fully mechanized top coal caving mining of extra thick coal seams. The two dimensional discrete element numerical simulation software program, particle flow code (PFC), is used for the simulation of top coal caving and the ...

Application of the Vibration to the Top Coal Caving
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011The article discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional long wall top coal caving (LTCC) first, then proposed a new technique of top coal caving with vibration. The theoretical basis of the technique was elaborated. The top coal vibration system and its control system have been designed as such when the system works, the emulsion pump ...

Numerical simulation of hard top-coal's pulsed caving in fully mechanized caving face
2010 International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2010In order to improve the top-coal recovery in fully mechanized longwall face, the hard top-coal caving was simulated through particle flow program in three dimensions. According to the pressing cracking test of hard coal, the top-coal's fragmentation size and spatial distribution were simulated.

Analysis of the dialectical relation between top coal caving and coal-gas outburst
Journal of Coal Science and Engineering (China), 2009According to the different engineering mechanical states of top coal caving and normal stoping of gaseous loose thick coal seams, the dialectical relation between this caving method and dynamic disasters was analyzed by simulating the change of stress states in the process of top coal initial caving with different mining and caving ratios based on the ...

Evaluation of Top Coal Yielding Potential in Longwall All Top Coal Caving Mining
2014Longwall Top Coal Caving (LTCC) is a method of extraction for underground mining of thick coal seams. This method, being a combined version of Longwall and Sublevel caving methods, has a higher output than a single longwall face. This is because coal is not only extracted by shearer loader but also produced by simultaneous caving of the remaining top ...

Optimization Coal Pillar Size of Top Coal Caving Face with Dynamic Pressure Impact
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014AH Wilson coal pillar was used widely as it’s simply, but it’s appeared large error for field implementation as its difference assume conditions, mine depth H and mine thickness m. AH Wilson coal pillar formula was studied precisely by in-site stresses test and numerical simulation analysis for N3-5 top coal caving working face of CHANGCUN coal mine in
