Influence of Coal Caving Time and Tail Beam Swing Angle on the Evolution of the Coal Gangue Boundary Line during Top Coal Caving

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
In the process of top coal caving mining, the caving time and the tail beam swing angle have an important impact on the evolution of the coal gangue boundary, which determines the top coal recovery rate and gangue content rate. Therefore, it is necessary

Numerical Damping Calibration Study of Particle Element Method-Based Dynamic Relaxation Approach for Modeling Longwall Top-Coal Caving

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
When using the explicit dynamic relaxation approach (DRA) to model the quasi-static rock breakage, fragmentation, and flow problems, especially the top-coal caving question, introducing numerical damping into the solution equation is inevitable for ...

Technique of top coal caving with vibration

open access: yesProcedia Earth and Planetary Science, 2009
AbstractHow to understand the top coal caving process and increase the top coal recovery ratio is one of the urgent problems to be resolved for the longwall top coal caving technology. The paper mainly studies a new theory and technique of top coal caving with vibration. The vibration device is mounted on the shield beam of the top coal caving support.

An optimizing microseismic method for rock burst early warning based on mining production process

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A classification early warning method of rock burst based on hourly microseismic data is proposed, which can be combined with the on‐site production process to provide more timely warning. Abstract Microseismic (MS) events have been reported in nearly every coal mining country, which could well lead to rock burst in underground coal mines.

Caving‐enhanced geothermal system overwhelms fracturing‐ and pipe‐enhanced geothermal system in heat extraction

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Our study reveals that caving‐enhanced geothermal systems (C‐EGS) with adequately fractured reservoirs achieve optimal heat extraction by minimizing preferential flow paths, while conventional fracturing (F‐EGS) and pipe‐based (P‐EGS) systems suffer accelerated thermal drawdown.

Fracture evolution of a thick soft protection layer and the water inrush mechanism in overburden under longwall mining

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Through shear–tensile creep tests and viscoelastic modeling, the fracture evolution of thick soft protective layers is clarified. Results show thickness‐dependent rheological failure modes that govern four types of roof water inrush, providing a mechanism‐based framework for hazard prediction and control. Abstract In the Jurassic coal‐bearing strata of
