What Is the Top Quark Mass? [PDF]

open access: yesAnnual Review of Nuclear and Particle Science, 2020
This review provides an overview of the conceptual issues regarding the interpretation of so-called direct top quark mass measurements, which are based on the kinematic reconstruction of top quark decay products at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). These measurements quote the top mass parameter [Formula: see text] of Monte Carlo event generators with ...

Model independent analysis of the forward–backward asymmetry of top quark production at the Tevatron

open access: yesPhysics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics, 2010
Motivated by a possible anomaly in the forward-backward (FB) asymmetry of top quark AFB observed at the Tevatron, we perform a model independent analysis on q \bar{q} \to t \bar{t} using an effective lagrangian with dim-6 four-quark operators.

TOP QUARK MASS AND THE FOURTH GENERATION OF QUARK

Chinese Physics Letters, 1984
To explain CP violation in Kaon system in the light of the recently measured b-lifetime within the framework of three generations of quarks, the top quark mass has to be greater than 50GeV if the current algebra value of the factor BK is adopted and |'/| < 0.01.

Effects of top quark compositeness

Physical Review D, 1995
We investigate the effects of top quark compositeness on various physical parameters, and obtain lower limits on the compositeness scale from electroweak precision data. We consider corrections to top quark decay rates and other physical processes. Our results depend sensitively on whether the left-handed top quark is composite.
