Top Tensioned Riser Systems for a New Floater Type

All Days, 2010
Abstract The Telemark Hub is being developed with a new design deep-draft floating production system [1]. This paper describes development of top-tensioned drilling risers and production risers with dry trees. The riser system includes standard riser joints, specialty joints and an innovative riser tensioning system.

Dry Tree Top Tensioned Riser Systems

OTC Brasil, 2013
Abstract As oil production moves further offshore and into deeper water, the technology needed to meet the increased demands evolves. New technologies and new applications of existing technologies bring new challenges and often create unintended consequences.

Extreme Value Estimation of Mooring Lines Top Tension

Volume 3: Structures, Safety, and Reliability, 2019
Abstract It is known that the mooring system of floating platforms responds non-linearly to environmental loads. Even though the wave-frequency excitation can be assumed as a Gaussian process, the line tension generally is not a Gaussian process due to the second-order slow-drift floater motions and the nonlinearities of the system ...

HRM Professional Role Tensions: Perceptions and Responses of the Top Management Team

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
AbstractThe aims of the research are to explore evidence of professional human resource management (HRM) role tensions, the factors that affect HRM role tension, and to consider the impact on management perceptions when role tensions exist. Using a qualitative approach, 25 interviews were conducted in Australia with senior HRM personnel, top management

Parametric instability prediction in a top-tensioned riser in irregular waves

Ocean Engineering, 2013
The parametric instability of a top-tensioned riser (TTR) in irregular waves was predicted based on multi-frequency excitation. As the exploration of oil and gas moves into deeper water and the corresponding platforms encounter continuous wave loads, parametric resonance becomes an increasing challenge for TTR design.

Mechanics of Heat Loss in Dry Tree Top-Tensioned Risers

Offshore Technology Conference, 2004
Abstract Application of dry tree top-tensioned riser systems provides direct vertical access to reservoir via production risers and surface trees, wellbore access for artificial lift and wireline and coiled tubing. While the dry tree riser is gaining growingly attention for deepwater development, the challenge has ...

The Possible Role of Surface Tension in the Reduction of Top Ring Drag

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1993
<div class="htmlview paragraph">In a small (4.5 KW) diesel engine, Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) has been used to produce detailed oil film thickness measurements around the top piston ring and liner near midstroke. The flow is “Newtonian” under the ring in the sense that using a high shear rate viscosity at the liner temperature is ...

A Fatigue Monitoring Strategy And Implementation On A Deepwater Top Tensioned Riser

Offshore Technology Conference, 2005
Abstract A riser fatigue monitoring strategy and implementation on a deepwater Gulf of Mexico Spar top tensioned riser is presented. The paper explains why a fatigue monitoring program is considered necessary to provide the operator with assurance of the riser system performance and integrity in service, the ...

Weather Window Determination of Top-Tensioned Riser Deployment With Guidewires

Volume 4B: Pipeline and Riser Technology, 2013
To replace 20 of the 42 top-tensioned production risers for the Statoil Snorre A platform, the planned riser deployment will use a guidewire and guide frame system. A suitable weather window needed to be determined for the deployment to avoid clashing the deploying risers and adjacent connected risers. Such clashing could cause severe consequences such
