Evaluation and Normalization of Topographic Effects on Vegetation Indices [PDF]

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
The normalization of topographic effects on vegetation indices (VIs) is a prerequisite for their proper use in mountainous areas. We assessed the topographic effects on the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), the enhanced vegetation index (EVI), the soil adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), and the near-infrared reflectance of terrestrial ...

Sensitivity of the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to Topographic Effects: A Case Study in High-Density Cypress Forest

open access: yesSensors, 2007
Vegetation indices play an important role in monitoring variations in vegetation. The Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) proposed by the MODIS Land Discipline Groupand the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) are both global-based vegetationindices ...

Topographic Effects in Geoid Determinations [PDF]

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
Traditionally, geoid determination is applied by Stokes’ formula with gravity anomalies after removal of the attraction of the topography by a simple or refined Bouguer correction, and restoration of topography by the primary indirect topographic ...

On the topographic effects by Stokes’ formula

open access: yesJournal of Geodetic Science, 2014
Traditional gravimetric geoid determination relieson Stokes’ formula with removal and restoration of thetopographic effects. It is shown that this solution is in errorof the order of the quasigeoid-to-geoid difference, which ismainly due to incomplete ...

翡翠河谷地震动地形效应解析分析

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2022

A Physically Based Statistical Model With the Parameterized Topographic Effect for Predicting the Weakening of Tropical Cyclones After Landfall Over China

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2022
Accurate prediction of tropical cyclone (TC) intensity is important but challenging. In this study, a physically based algebraic decay model for predicting TC weakening after landfall over China is introduced, which assumes the TC weakening rate is ...

Vegetation Growth Status and Topographic Effects in Frozen Soil Regions on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP), which is known as Earth’s “Third Pole”, is a driver of global climate change, and long-term monitoring of QTP vegetation can reveal changes attributable to climatic and human influences.

The Effects of Hydration on the Topographical and Mechanical Properties of Corneocytes

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2023
It is well established that the biomechanical properties of the Stratum Corneum (SC) are influenced by both moisture-induced plasticization and the lipid content. This study employs Atomic Force Microscopy to investigate how hydration affects the surface topographical and elasto-viscoplastic characteristics of corneocytes from two anatomical sites ...

Vegetation Monitoring of Protected Areas in Rugged Mountains Using an Improved Shadow-Eliminated Vegetation Index (SEVI)

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
It is significant to study the vegetation of protected areas in rugged mountains where the vegetation grows naturally with minimal eco-society environmental stress from anthropogenic activities.
