Topological data analysis in biomedicine: A review
Significant technological advances made in recent years have shepherded a dramatic increase in utilization of digital technologies for biomedicine- everything from the widespread use of electronic health records to improved medical imaging capabilities and the rising ubiquity of genomic sequencing contribute to a "digitization" of biomedical research ...

ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

ABSTRACT Objective Variants in SLC6A1, encoding the GABA transporter 1 (GAT‐1), cause epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delay via loss of GABA uptake, impaired trafficking, and ER retention. We previously found that 4‐Phenylbutyrate (PBA), an FDA‐approved drug, restores GABA uptake and reduces seizures in SLC6A1‐related disorders ...

Interpretable machine learning for atomic scale magnetic anisotropy in quantum materials
The rising demand for digital storage and environmental concerns necessitate ultra-high-density, energy-efficient solutions. Atomic-scale magnets (ASMs) based on transition metal (TM) dimers on defective graphene exhibit promising magnetic anisotropy ...

Topological Data Analysis in Natural Language Processing -- A Tutorial
Topological Data Analysis (TDA) introduces methods that capture the underlying structure of shapes in data. Within the last two decades, TDA has been mostly examined in unsupervised machine learning tasks.

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Discerning dynamics in synchrophasor data using topological data analysis
This paper explores the application of topological data analysis (TDA) for capturing relevant dynamic behavior (modes) in ambient synchrophasor data. In frequency domain, dominant dynamics correspond to prominent spectral peaks, which persist under a ...

On the Bootstrap for Persistence Diagrams and Landscapes
Persistent homology probes topological properties from point clouds and functions. By looking at multiple scales simultaneously, one can record the births and deaths of topological features as the scale varies.

Promises and pitfalls of topological data analysis for brain connectivity analysis
Developing sensitive and reliable methods to distinguish normal and abnormal brain states is a key neuroscientific challenge. Topological Data Analysis, despite its relative novelty, already generated many promising applications, including in ...

Differentially Private Topological Data Analysis
This paper is the first to attempt differentially private (DP) topological data analysis (TDA), producing near-optimal private persistence diagrams. We analyze the sensitivity of persistence diagrams in terms of the bottleneck distance, and we show that the commonly used Čech complex has sensitivity that does not decrease as the sample size $n ...
