Numerosity as a topological invariant
The ability to quickly recognize the number of objects in our environment is a fundamental cognitive function. However, it is far from clear which computations and which actual neural processing mechanisms are used to provide us with such a skill. Here we try to provide a detailed and comprehensive analysis of this issue, which comprises both the basic

Thickness‐Dependent Skyrmion Evolution in Fe3GeTe2 During Magnetization Reversal
Thickness‐ and field‐dependent magnetic domain behavior in 2D van der Waals Fe3GeTe2 is studied using Lorentz TEM and micromagnetic simulations. A patch‐like domain phase evolves from skyrmions during magnetization reversal, and step edges between thickness regions act as pinning sites.

Wannier center spectroscopy to identify boundary-obstructed topological insulators
The hallmark of topological crystalline insulators is the emergence of a robust electronic state in a bandgap localized at the boundary of the material. However, end, edge, and surface states can also have a nontopological origin.

Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Soft Actuators
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) can be actuated via electromechanical, electrochemical, or electrothermal effects. a) Electromechanical effects include Maxwell stress, electrostriction, and the electroclinic effect. b) Electrochemical effects arise from electrode redox reactions.

Kekulé Counts, Clar Numbers, and ZZ Polynomials for All Isomers of (5,6)-Fullerenes C52–C70
We report an extensive tabulation of several important topological invariants for all the isomers of carbon (5,6)-fullerenes Cn with n = 52–70. The topological invariants (including Kekulé count, Clar count, and Clar number) are computed and reported in ...

Computational Complexity of Topological Invariants [PDF]
AbstractWe answer the following question posed by Lechuga: given a simply connected spaceXwith bothH*(X; ℚ) and π*(X) ⊗ ℚ being finite dimensional, what is the computational complexity of an algorithm computing the cup length and the rational Lusternik—Schnirelmann category ofX?Basically, by a reduction from the decision problem of whether a given ...

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.
