Bottom‐up Strategies for Generating Polymer Protocells That Mimic Cellular Communication

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This review focuses on polymeric protocells produced using a bottom‐up approach. Polymer‐based assemblies guarantee stability and designability by adjusting the properties of the amphiphilic copolymers used. The review covers protocell architectures, production, and their intra‐ and intercellular communication mechanisms.

Equivariant toric geometry and Euler–Maclaurin formulae

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We first investigate torus‐equivariant motivic characteristic classes of toric varieties, and then apply them via the equivariant Riemann–Roch formalism to prove very general Euler–Maclaurin‐type formulae for full‐dimensional simple lattice polytopes.

Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

Properties of Bisdiazo Compounds and Their Derived Carbenes via Density Functional Theory

open access: yesChemPhysChem, EarlyView.
Density function theory (DFT) calculation at level of B3LYP‐(D3)BJ/6‐311G** reveals the fundamental electronic structure of substituted bisdiazo compounds as well as their derived carbene and biscarbene species at both ground and excited states. Extension to physisorption onto single‐layer graphene provides more insight of the surface behaviour of this

When contact lines remember: Surface charge and the evolving interaction with defects

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
Ultrafast microscopy reveals that drop contact lines evolve with the history of fluid‒surface interactions, as surface defects gain attraction through sliding‐induced electrification, altering interaction forces and wettability, and challenging the idea that defect effects are constant.
