Cross‐Tied Bypass Diodes in Small‐Area High‐Voltage PV Module for Nearly Ideal Partial Shading Performance in Urban Applications

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
Urban photovoltaic (PV) installations face efficiency, reliability, and safety challenges from partial shading by surrounding structures. This study suggests partial shading–tolerant PV module structures based on an investigation of the effects of various bypass diode connection configurations, including module‐level total cross‐tied (TCT) connections ...

Nuclear Physics in the Era of Quantum Computing and Quantum Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
The use of QML in the realm of nuclear physics at low energy is almost nonexistent. Three examples of the use of quantum computing and quantum machine in nuclear physics are presented: the determination of the phase/shape in nuclear models, the calculation of the ground state energy, and the identification of particles in nuclear physics experiments ...

Toward Useful Quantum Kernels

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
The hybrid approach to Quantum Supervised Machine Learning is compatible with Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices but hardly useful. Pure quantum kernels requiring fault‐tolerant quantum computers are more promising. Examples are kernels computed by means of the Quantum Fourier Transform (QFT) and kernels defined via the calculation of ...

Dynamic Phase Enabled Topological Mode Steering in Composite Su‐Schrieffer–Heeger Waveguide Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
The excitation and transition of a topological zero mode are demonstrated with a non‐trivial geometric phase enabled by tuning dynamic phase in composite waveguide arrays. This work presents a strategy where dynamic phase, geometric phase, and wavelength play crucial roles in controlling light flow in on‐chip topological devices.
