An optimised 3D topology for on-chip communications
International Journal of Parallel, Emergent and Distributed Systems, 2013Increasing system complexity, energy and device reliability, requirement of modular approach, structured layout, effective spatial reuse of resources, scalability and re-programmability have made network-on-chip (NoC) an obvious interconnection design alternative to the ubiquitous bus based on chip communication architecture in system-on-chip ...

Topology Optimisation of Brake Caliper
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2020<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The objective of the research is to develop a lightweight yet stiff, 2 piston fixed brake caliper which can be used in formula student race car. To make a race car, its components need to be lighter.

Optimising 3D Printed Concrete Structures Using Topology Optimisation
2017Additive manufacturing and 3D printing are rapidly developing digital fabrication techniques (Lu et al. 2015). After the first steps in small scale printing of metals (Frazier 2014) and plastics (Gibson et al. 2014) have been made, research from various groups around the world is now also focusing on large scale printing in concrete (Lim et al.

Topology and Convex Optimisation
2004Chapter 3 covers Topology and convex optimization. In the Chap. 2 we introduced the notion of the scalar product of two vectors in ℜ n . More generally if a scalar product is defined on some space, then this permits the definition of a norm, or length, associated with a vector, and this in turn allows us to define the distance between two vectors.

Topology Optimisation of Continuum Structures
2020The choice of the appropriate structural topology in the conceptual phase is generally the most critical and decisive factor for obtaining an efficient new product. Furthermore for industrial applications, it is always desirable to minimise the total design process duration which is generally proportional to its cost.

WRTA - Wake-Up-Receiver optimised routing and topology optimisation approach
2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications, 2012In the domain of distributed embedded systems, available resources regarding computing power, energy, and memory are strongly limited. With focus on the energy resources, communication hardware and communication tasks represent critical consumers for most of the common application scenarios.

Virtual topological optimisation of scaffolds for rapid prototyping
Medical Engineering & Physics, 2010Advanced additive techniques are now being developed to fabricate scaffolds with controlled architecture for tissue engineering. These techniques combine computer-aided design (CAD) with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) tools to produce three-dimensional structures layer by layer in a multitude of materials.

A genetic algorithm for combined topology and shape optimisations
Computer-Aided Design, 2003A method to find optimal topology and shape of structures is presented. With the first the optimal distribution of an assigned mass is found using an approach based on homogenisation theory, that seeks in which elements of a meshed domain it is present mass; with the second the discontinuous boundaries are smoothed.

Creating Diverse and Competitive Designs in Topology Optimisation
2023In recent years, computational design methods have attracted much attention due to their capability and convenience in rapidly generating potential solutions to a design problem. Among various computational design techniques, topology optimisation, a performance-based design tool, has become increasingly popular, as it enables designers to create ...
