Design and Mechanical Properties of Maximum Bulk Modulus Microstructures Based on a Smooth Topology with Grid Point Density

open access: yesAerospace
The aim of topology optimisation is to determine the optimal distribution of material phases within the periodic cells of a microstructure. In this paper, the density of grid points under element volume fraction is constructed to replace the finite ...

3D Hydrodynamic Flow Lithography

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Continuous‐ and stop‐flow lithography are widely used to fabricate multi‐dimensional microstructures whose cross‐sectional morphology is dictated by the flow profile of multiple co‐flowing streams. Here, we introduce three‐dimensional hydrodynamic flow lithography (3D HFL), a platform for programmable generation of multi‐layered flow profiles ...

Bioinspired Co‐Assembly Enables Multiscale Architected Hydrogels for 3D Printing With Integrated Antibacterial and Bioactive Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multicomponent supramolecular hydrogel integrating cell‐adhesive and antibacterial peptides within an alginate‐cellulose nanofibril matrix is developed. Peptide co‐assembly simultaneously strengthens the hydrogel network, improves extrusion printability, and imparts cell‐adhesive and antibacterial functions, offering a versatile platform for ...

Wearable Kirigami‐Apertured Capacitive Sensors for Continuous Cardiac Volumetric Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A wearable kirigami‐apertured carbon nanotube‐paper composite (K‐CPC) capacitive sensor enables cardiac volumetric monitoring. The kirigami process creates a central aperture with cantilevered fibers that confine the electric field, enhancing both sensitivity and lateral resolution.

Improved parallel preconditioners for multidisciplinary topology optimisations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics, 2016
Two commonly used preconditioners were evaluated for parallel solution of linear systems of equations with high condition numbers. The test cases were derived from topology optimisation applications in multiple disciplines, where the material distribution finite element methods were used.

Design and Characterization of a Two‐Dimensional Soft Array Based on Cooperative Dielectric Elastomer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.

Memristive‐Gated RC‐Delay Synaptic Transistors for Time‐Encoded Analog in‐Memory Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Memristive‐Gated Transistor for Time‐Encoded Analog In‐Memory Computing — By exploiting the RC delay of a self‐rectifying interface‐type memristor, nonlinear I–V distortion is structurally bypassed, enabling 3‐bit nonvolatile memory, spike‐timing‐based analog encoding, and hardware‐calibrated reservoir‐computing validation within a unified device ...

Network Topology Governs Photocatalytic Water Splitting in Organic Two‐Dimensional Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Network topology in organic two‐dimensional crystals (O2DCs) dictates the photocatalytic water splitting performance. Kagome‐lattice O2DCs exhibit strong electron‐hole mass asymmetry, spatially separated carriers, and longer recombination lifetimes, exceeding rhombic isomers.
