Cumulative Extreme Events Threaten Penguin Habitats Across the Southern Hemisphere
Global Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 10, October 2025.This study examines how multiple extreme events overlap across the Southern Hemisphere, focusing on hotspots of 18 penguin species across both land and sea. African, Snares, Emperor, Adélie and Galápagos penguins experience the greatest combined exposure, and most species are projected to face more frequent extremes if current trends persist.
