Simulated Tropical Troposphere Response to the QBO: Effect of Vertical Resolution, Gravity Waves Parameterization, and Boundary Forcing

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract An intermediate complexity general circulation model is used to isolate the effect of vertical resolution and gravity wave parameterization on the simulated monthly quasi‐biennial oscillation (QBO)‐tropical precipitation linkage. For low vertical resolution, the model is able to simulate QBO in the lowermost stratosphere, and its impact on the

Performance of Circulating Inflammatory Biomarkers and Krebs von den Lungen 6 for Predicting Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis in Patients With Systemic Sclerosis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Objective To assess the predictive performance of inflammatory biomarkers, including C‐reactive protein (CRP) and Krebs von den Lungen 6 (KL‐6), for the development of progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc)–associated interstitial lung disease (ILD).

Complex Cryptographic and User‐Centric Physically Unclonable Functions Enabled by Strain‐Sensitive Nanocrystals via Selective Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 23, 19 March 2026.
This study investigates electromechanical PUFs that improve on traditional electric PUFs. The electron transport materials are coated randomly through selective ligand exchange. It produces multiple keys and a key with motion dependent on percolation and strain, and approaches almost ideal inter‐ and intra‐hamming distances.
