The (binary) Jonsson-Tarski variety was first observed to be a topos by P. Freyd. This example was generalized, first by the reviewer and then by Z. Barel.

In this issue [ Rybenkov et al .][2] report that topoisomerase II (topo II) and the closely related topoisomerase IV (topo IV) actually drive a population of catenated, supercoiled, and knotted DNA molecules to an untangled state far from equilibrium.
