A simple presentation of the effective topos [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
We propose for the Effective Topos an alternative construction: a realisability framework composed of two levels of abstraction. This construction simplifies the proof that the Effective Topos is a topos (equipped with natural numbers), which is the main issue that this paper addresses. In this our work can be compared to Frey's monadic tripos-to-topos

Poly(α‐Aminophosphine Chalcogenide) Networks: Synthesis, Characterization, and Application for Metal Sequestration

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Phosphorus chalcogenide‐rich polymer networks swell in polar aprotic solvents, and remove metals from solutions. ABSTRACT Quaternary mixtures of primary phosphine, chalcogen, diimine, and triimine were employed in polymerization reactions to give α‐aminophosphine chalcogenide polymer networks.

Argumentationsanalyse. Grundtræk af en modulær sprogvidenskabelig tilgang

open access: yesHermes, 1998
In this article, the author presents some fundamentals of a modular linguistic approach to argumentation. Argumentation is seen as a matter of interpretation, and since interpretation phenomena depend on linguistic material as well as on context in the ...

Babel’s Dawn and the Primeval Language. Between Translation and Narrative, or the Syriac Version of an Old Jewish Tradition

open access: yesHumanities, 2012
The story of the Tower of Babel in Gn 11:1–9 gave rise to a rich literary tradition, in which the topos of the primeval language emerged. Whereas the interpretative tradition originating among the Jewish commentators upheld that the original language was

Injective Hulls In a Locally Finite Topos [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We show that in a locally finite topos, every object has an essential extension that is injective, and that this extension is unique up to isomorphism. The construction was motivated by work on Bewl, a software project for doing topos-theoretic calculations.

The herbicidal natural product phosphonothrixin is an inhibitor of the riboflavin biosynthetic enzyme L‐3,4‐dihydroxy‐2‐butanone‐4‐phosphate synthase

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
An enzyme involved in vitamin B2 biosynthesis, 3,4‐dihydroxy‐2‐butanone‐4‐phosphate synthase (DHBPS), was identified as the target of the natural product phosphonothrixin, representing a novel mode of action for herbicides. Abstract BACKGROUND In our ongoing search for new and environmentally friendly chemical entities that can control weeds via new ...

“Utinam ne in nemore Pelio”. Un verso di Ennio nelle opere di Cicerone [PDF]

open access: yesParole Rubate, 2019
Rapidly become a literary topos, Ennius’s line utinam ne in nemore Pelio refers to certain events one wished had not unfolded, given the far-reaching consequences they had. In his works, Cicero quotes Ennius’s line repeatedly.
