A Comparative Study of Directed Energy Deposition‐Arc and Casting: Enhancing Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Hot‐Work Tool Steels

The study investigates the influence of DED‐Arc/M versus casting on the microstructure and material properties of X40CrMoV5‐1 (AISI H13) hot‐work tool steel. DED‐Arc/M yields finer microstructures, superior mechanical strength, and ductility, but slightly reduced thermal conductivity.

The intercalation compound B6O9·CH3SO3H can be seen as the stabilization of a new B2O3 modification by methanesulfonic acid. The structure elucidation was performed by X‐ray diffraction and solid‐state NMR measurements.
