Low energy states of a semiflexible polymer chain with attraction and the whip-toroid transitions

open access: yes, 2006
Based on our previous paper [cond-mat/0507477], we establish a general model for the whip-toroid transitions of a semiflexible homopolymer chain using the path integral method and the O(3) nonlinear sigma model on a line segment with the local ...

Persistent superfluid flow arising from the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect in molecular dipolar condensates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We show that the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect can induce a persistent flow in a Bose-Einstein condensate of polar molecules confined in a toroidal trap, with the dipolar interaction mediated via an electric dipole moment.

Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.

3D Structure From 2D Microscopy Images Using Deep Learning

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioinformatics, 2021
Understanding the structure of a protein complex is crucial in determining its function. However, retrieving accurate 3D structures from microscopy images is highly challenging, particularly as many imaging modalities are two-dimensional. Recent advances

Double-toroidal, triple-toroidal and quadruple-toroidal nilpotent graph

open access: yesFilomat
In this paper, all finite non-nilpotent groups whose nilpotent graphs can be embedded on the double-torus, triple-torus or quadruple-torus are classified.

Analysis of radiation-pressure induced mechanical oscillation of an optical microcavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The theoretical work of V.B. Braginsky predicted that radiation pressure can couple the mechanical, mirror-eigenmodes of a Fabry-Perot resonator to it's optical modes, leading to a parametric oscillation instability.

Stoichiometry‐Programmed MXenes via Precursor Engineering for High‐Performance EMI Shielding and Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Precursor carbon stoichiometry programs internal strain and oxygen substitution in Ti3AlCxO2‐x, deterministically switching Ti3CxO2‐xTz MXenes between highly aligned 2D nanosheets and spontaneous 1D nanoscrolls. This synthesis‐stage architecture control enables ultrathin X/W‐band EMI shielding with outstanding mass‐normalized performance and bending ...

Electric‐Current‐Assisted Nucleation of Zero‐Field Hopfion Rings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports a novel and efficient nucleation protocol for 3D localized topological magnetic solitons‐hopfion rings in chiral magnets using pulsed electric currents. By using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy and topological analysis, we report characteristic features and extraordinary stability of hopfion rings in zero or inverted external
