NuSAP Safeguards Centriole Integrity to Mediate CEP57‐CEP152 Torus Recruitment for Proper Engagement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel role for the microtubule stabilizer NuSAP at centrioles. NuSAP depletion destabilizes the centriole's tubulin structure, causing premature disengagement, PCM defects, and mis‐localization of the CEP57‐CEP63‐CEP152 complex. By reinforcing centriole architecture, NuSAP enables early CEP57 loading and initiates a newly proposed ...

Ejecta‐Modulated Bubble Dynamics Play a Dominant Role in Stone Retropulsion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stone motion during laser ablation is shown to result primarily from asymmetric cavitation bubble collapse, not from ejecta recoil. This challenges long‐standing assumptions and highlights the dominant role of bubble dynamics in laser–material interactions.

Different pathways in mechanical unfolding/folding cycle of a single semiflexible polymer

open access: yes, 2005
Kinetics of conformational change of a semiflexible polymer under mechanical external field were investigated with Langevin dynamics simulations. It is found that a semiflexible polymer exhibits large hysteresis in mechanical folding/unfolding cycle even

Overcoming the Trade‐Off Between Magnetic Coupling and Electrical Insulation in Soft Magnetic Materials via Nanochain Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs a nanochain engineering approach combined with an in situ oxidation strategy to fabricate self‐insulating iron‐based magnetic nanochains, addressing the challenge of balancing magnetic coupling and electrical insulation in soft magnetic materials.

Amplification of electromagnetic fields by a rotating body

open access: yesNature Communications
In 1971, Zel’dovich predicted the amplification of electromagnetic (EM) waves scattered by a rotating metallic cylinder, gaining mechanical rotational energy from the body.

Ultra-high-Q toroid microcavities on a chip [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We demonstrate microfabrication of ultra-high-Q microcavities on a chip, exhibiting a novel toroid-shaped geometry. The cavities possess Q-factors in excess of 100 million which constitutes an improvement close to 4 orders-of-magnitude in Q compared to ...

Neural Network‐Based Permittivity Engineering of Magnetic Absorbers for Customizable Microwave Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A neural network‐enabled permittivity engineering paradigm is introduced, transcending traditional trial‐and‐error design. By decoupling electromagnetic parameters and screening a high‐throughput feature space, an ultrathin (1.0 mm) magnetic absorber is inversely designed, experimentally achieving a superior and customizable 5.1 GHz bandwidth and ...
