Drop Behavior in Uniform DC Electric Field

open access: yes, 2009
Drop deformation in uniform electric fields is a classic problem. The pioneering work of G.I.Taylor demonstrated that for weakly conducting media, the drop fluid undergoes a toroidal flow and the drop adopts a prolate or oblate spheroidal shape, the flow

Rieger-type periodicity during solar cycles 14-24: estimation of dynamo magnetic field strength in the solar interior

open access: yes, 2016
Solar activity undergoes a variation over time scales of several months known as Rieger-type periodicity, which usually occurs near maxima of sunspot cycles.

Low‐Symmetry Weyl Semimetals: A Path to Ideal Topological States

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 21, 12 March 2026.
This study presents a theoretical framework for realizing ideal Weyl semimetals, where Weyl nodes are well‐isolated at the Fermi level. The approach is exemplified in the low‐symmetry material Cu2SnSe3, which exhibits tunable topological phases, current‐induced orbital magnetization, and a strong circular photogalvanic effect, making it a promising ...

Velocity profile shapes in Alcator C-Mod plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Toroidal rotation velocity spatial profiles ( $r/a$ $ \lt $ 0.8) have been obtained from C-Mod over a wide range of operational conditions, including H-mode, I-mode, ICRF-heated L-mode and Ohmic L-mode (LOC and SOC), and in plasmas with ITBs, LH wave ...

Creation of matter wave Bessel beams and observation of quantized circulation in a Bose–Einstein condensate

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
Bessel beams are plane waves with amplitude profiles described by Bessel functions. They are important because they propagate ‘diffraction-free’ and because they can carry orbital angular momentum.

Rotating three-dimensional solitons in Bose Einstein condensates with gravity-like attractive nonlocal interaction

open access: yes, 2009
We study formation of rotating three-dimensional high-order solitons (azimuthons) in Bose Einstein condensate with attractive nonlocal nonlinear interaction.

Emergent Freestanding Complex Oxide Membranes for Multifunctional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
This review surveys freestanding oxide membranes and covers fabrication and three pathways for studies and devices: strain‐free and strained membranes, and van der Waals‐integrated heterostructures. We show how coupled oxide responses map onto these routes and cross‐couple to expand behaviors.

Toroidal Magnetic Flux Budget in Mean-field Dynamo Model of Solar Cycles 23 and 24

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We study the toroidal magnetic flux budget of the axisymmetric part of a data-driven 3D mean-field dynamo model of Solar Cycles 23 and 24. The model simulates the global solar dynamo that includes the effects of the formation and evolution of bipolar ...
