The Toronto Alexithymia Scale with incarcerated offenders
Personality and Individual Differences, 1995Abstract The present study examined the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS) in a sample of 508 male inmates incarcerated for sexual and violent offences. Criterion validity of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale.
Psychosomatic Medicine, 1988The criterion validity of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS) was assessed by administering the scale to 46 patients referred to a behavioral medicine outpatient clinic. Clinical ratings derived from observed interviews served as the criterion. TAS scores were significantly higher for the group of patients identified by two out of three raters as ...

Cross-validation of the factor structure of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale
Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 1990The Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS) is a self-report measure of the alexithymia construct. In previous studies with college students, the TAS demonstrated excellent psychometric properties including a 4-factor structure theoretically congruent with the alexithymia construct.

Toronto Alexithymia Scale: Relationship with Personality and Psychopathology Measures
Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics, 2010The Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS) is a 26-item self-report measure of alexithymia with good internal consistency and test-retest reliability, and a factor structure congruent with the alexithymia construct. This study assesses the construct validity of the scale by examining its relationship with several personality and psychopathology measures. In a

Factor Structure of a Spanish Version of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale
Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics, 2010A Spanish adaptation of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS) was factor-analyzed and its factor solution compared with the Canadian version of this test. A principal factor analysis was performed, revealing four factors of alexithymia. These factors are quite similar to those found through factor analysis of the TAS for the Canadian sample. A discussion

The Internet administration version of the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale.
Psychological Assessment, 2014Researchers are increasingly administering tests developed and validated in paper format via the Internet. Yet, the equivalence between paper and Internet concerning administration of tests is not typically demonstrated. We evaluated the reliability, factorial and external validity, and measurement equivalency of the Internet version of the 20-item ...

Psychometric properties of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) in Brazil
Transcultural Psychiatry, 2019Internationally, the most widely used self-report instrument to assess alexithymia (a clinical condition characterized by serious deficits in the cognitive processing of emotions) is the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20). Because this measure has been poorly investigated in Brazil and emerging research suggests that TAS-20 scores might vary from one ...
