The pectoralis muscle orientation as an indicator of the modes of wing‐propelled locomotion in birds
Journal of Anatomy, EarlyView.The pectoralis orientation of birds was consistent with the orientation of the aerodynamic force acting on the wing, varying by wing‐propelled locomotion (WPL) mode. The skeletal morphology unique to each WPL mode, related to the origin/insertion of the pectoralis, may be associated with these functional demands of pectoralis orientation.

Journal of Anatomy, EarlyView.Using tissue clearing and light‐sheet microscopy methods, we visualized the 3D mesoscopic arrangement of neural tracts, blood vessels and neurons within the adult human superior hypogastric plexus and hypogastric nerves, identifying the latter to contain thousands of neuronal cells bodies embedded along its entire length.
