A new torque meter or torque magnetometer

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1963
A torque meter is described which employs the principles used in work with resistance strain gauges to convert small torques developed in isolated specimens directly into electrical signals. The overall sensitivity and the maximum torque that can be measured with this meter can both be altered appreciably by suitable modifications in design, but for ...

EMG-torque model to predict reflex mediated torque

Images of the Twenty-First Century. Proceedings of the Annual International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2003
An EMG (electromyogram)-torque model based on measurements during isometric muscle contractions was developed. The model was used to predict the reflex mediated torque during a stretch of the ankle dorsiflexors. The predicted values are compared to measured values, and it is proposed that the model can quantitate the mechanical component of the stretch

Torque standard machine for calibration of reference torque wrench and torque transducer at Nim

Tenth International Symposium on Precision Engineering Measurements and Instrumentation, 2019
The paper describes a new torque standard machine at NIM. The new reference torque standard machine is designed to calibrate the reference torque wrench and torque transducer. The relative expanded uncertainty of this torque standard from 10Nm to 5000Nm is better than 5×10-4(k=2).

Optomechanical torque magnetometry

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2016
A thin film of magnetic permalloy is integrated into a photonic crystal split-beam cavity allowing for optomechanical detection of magnetic torques under applied fields. The magnetic response of the magnetometer is observed under ambient conditions.

Automatic Torque Controller for Torque Motors

Journal of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, 1952
The use of the automatic torque controller permits the full advantages of torque motors to be realized for film take-up and holdback duty without being handicapped by their inherent limitations when operated in the conventional manner.

A precision torque balance for the measurement of small torques

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part I: Communication and Electronics, 1955
THE development and testing of torque motors for precision gyroscopes require the accurate measurement of the small torques developed. These are stall torques, and are measured at various angular positions of the rotor with respect to the stator. The magnitude of these torques is generally less than 50,000 dyne-centimeters (dyne-cm).

Induced torque in an ellipsoid. Torque anisotropy in potassium

Physical Review B, 1976
We present the theory of the induced torque in a conducting ellipsoid rotating in a magnetic field. The results for compensated metals and for metals with open orbits are not strikingly different from those found in a case of a sphere. However, in a noncompensated metal with closed orbits only, large nonsaturating anisotropies appear.

The torque and tilt gamble

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1997
To analyze possible suture configurations at the haptics of posterior chamber intraocular lenses (IOLs) and estimate the resulting tilt.King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.Using a plastic cylinder with two pairs of holes drilled on opposite sides and an IOL with eyelets in the haptics, we determined possible suture ...

Rotation and Torque [PDF]

open access: possible, 1991
Rotational motion, or spin, is visible everywhere; it is involved whenever an object changes its orientation. Our technical civilization relies on wheels and levers, and will continue to do so despite the modern engineer’s justified abhorrence of “moving parts.” In the natural world, rotation may be observed on levels from astronomical to subatomic ...
