Fluids for torque converters …
Scientific Lubrication, 1949TORQUE converters for commercial road vehicles are increasing in popularity and the question of the most suitable fluid to use with them has been the subject of much experiment for several years. A paper was recently presented before the S.A.E. at Pittsburgh by Mr. E. F. Collins of the G.M.C.

Ratcheting OWC in Torque Converters
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2013<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper reviews ratcheting one way clutches (OWC). OWC represent a significant cost in a transmission. Optimizing the OWC type helps reduce cost and increase fuel efficiency, and is therefore worth studying. Although the ratcheting OWC design is the primary focus of this paper,

Torque and Pressure CFD Correlation of a Torque Converter
SAE International Journal of Passenger Cars - Mechanical Systems, 2019<div>A torque converter was instrumented with 29 pressure transducers inside five cavities under study (impeller, turbine, stator, clutch cavity between the pressure plate and the turbine shell). A computer model was created to establish correlation with measured torque and pressure.

Converter Caused Torque Oscillations
2013Current sheets of the same space harmonics, which impose flux-density components of different phase velocities in the air-gap, cause oscillations in the electrical torque. These may damage the shaft or coupling. The difference in phase velocity causes a time dependent phase shift in flux density components.

Design of Hydraulic Torque Converter
2020The hydraulic torque converter is located at the most significant end of the AT and is mounted on the engine flywheel, acting like a clutch with MT. It is a vane transmission with the liquid as the medium. When the hydraulic torque converter is working, the interaction between the active wheel blade and working liquid is used to realize the ...

Cavitation Prediction in Automotive Torque Converters
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2005<div class="htmlview paragraph">As automotive torque converters decrease in both diameter and axial length, the effects of cavitation in the torque converter becomes increasingly important on noise, efficiency, and performance goals. Therefore, a cavitation prediction technique is developed in this investigation.
