Ideal Radial Permanent Magnet Coupling Torque Density Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2017
This paper derives the closed form 3-D analytical torque equations for an ideal radial Halbach rotor magnetic coupling. The performance of the radial Halbach coupling is then compared with an ideal axial Halbach rotor coupling. The closed form equations and comparison gives insight into the upper torque density limits of Nd-Fe-B based magnetic devices.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

The origin of the negative torque density in disk-satellite interaction

open access: yes, 2011
Tidal interaction between a gaseous disk and a massive orbiting perturber is known to result in angular momentum exchange between them. Understanding astrophysical manifestations of this coupling such as gap opening by planets in protoplanetary disks or ...

Piezoresistive Monitoring of Carbon Nanomaterial‐Reinforced Epoxy Composites Under Cyclic and Fatigue Loading: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanomaterial‐reinforced epoxy composites exhibit pronounced piezoresistive behavior, enabling intrinsic damage sensing under cyclic and fatigue loading. This review critically compares carbon nanotube and graphene systems, correlating filler content, percolation threshold, and gauge factor with sensing stability and damage evolution.

Relative Contribution of Trabecular and Cortical Bone to Primary Implant Stability: An In vitro Model Study

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: Primary implant stability is a crucial factor for the successful osseointegration and long-term success of dental implants. The contribution of trabecular and cortical bone to primary implant stability is not well understood.

Design of a novel dual flux modulation machine with consequent-pole spoke-array permanent magnets in both stator and rotor

open access: yesCES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2018
In this paper, a novel dual flux modulation (DFM) machine with consequent-pole spoke-array permanent magnets (PMs) in both stator and rotor is proposed to achieve a larger torque density than regular flux modulation machines.

Dynamic Testing of Cold Gas Sprayed Bipolar Plates–Porous Transport Layer Coating System in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Through direct application of porous transport layer (PTL) on the bipolar plate (BPP) with thermal spraying, the interfacial contact resistance is improved. With the cold gas sprayed BPP–PTL coating system, a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cell with a cell voltage of Ucell = 1.9 V can be operated up to i = 2.5 A/cm2 in a dynamic mode ...

Time-Resolved X-ray Microscopy of Spin-Torque-Induced Magnetic Vortex Gyration

open access: yes, 2008
Time-resolved X-ray microscopy is used to image the influence of alternating high-density currents on the magnetization dynamics of ferromagnetic vortices. Spin-torque induced vortex gyration is observed in micrometer-sized permalloy squares.
