On the topological ranks of Banach ∗$^*$‐algebras associated with groups of subexponential growth
Abstract Let G$G$ be a group of subexponential growth and C→qG$\mathcal C\overset{q}{\rightarrow }G$ a Fell bundle. We show that any Banach ∗$^*$‐algebra that sits between the associated ℓ1$\ell ^1$‐algebra ℓ1(G|C)$\ell ^1(G\,\vert \,\mathcal C)$ and its C∗$C^*$‐envelope has the same topological stable rank and real rank as ℓ1(G|C)$\ell ^1(G\,\vert ...

ABSTRACT Cartan's equivalence method is applied to explicitly construct three‐dimensional invariant coframes for three branches, which are used to characterize scalar second‐order ODEs with a three‐point symmetry Lie algebra. Additionally, we present a method for constructing the point transformation based on the derived invariant coframes.

On the Indecomposability of Torsion-Free Abelian Groups [PDF]
1. We consider the following question posed by E. Weinberg [4, ?5.2]: Does there exist a torsion-free abelian group of cardinality greater than the continuum (K) with the property that each pure subgroup is (directly) indecomposable? In ?2 we answer this question negatively for a large class of groups which contains, most notably, the class of ...

Quasi-bialgebra Structures and Torsion-free Abelian Groups
We describe all the quasi-bialgebra structures of a group algebra over a torsion-free abelian group. They all come out to be triangular in a unique way. Moreover, up to an isomorphism, these quasi-bialgebra structures produce only one (braided) monoidal ...

The Magnus representation and homology cobordism groups of homology cylinders
A homology cylinder over a compact manifold is a homology cobordism between two copies of the manifold together with a boundary parametrization. We study abelian quotients of the homology cobordism group of homology cylinders. For homology cylinders over

Duality and self-reflexive torsion-free abelian groups
Given an abelian group \(A\), let \(M_A\) denote the category of those abelian groups that are isomorphic to \(\text{End}(A)\)-submodules of finite direct sums of copies of \(A\). For \(A\) a rank-one torsion-free abelian group, R. B. Warfield jun. showed that the functor \(\text{Hom}(-,A)\) defines a rank-preserving duality on \(M_A\) (all unadorned ...

Protori and Torsion-Free Abelian Groups
The Resolution Theorem for Compact Abelian Groups is applied to show that the profinite subgroups of a finite-dimensional compact connected abelian group (protorus) which induce tori quotients comprise a lattice under intersection (meet) and $+$ (join), facilitating a proof of the existence of a universal resolution.
