Leveraging Organ‐on‐Chip Models to Investigate Host–Microbiota Dynamics and Targeted Therapies for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The challenges of studying inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), highlighting limitations of traditional 2D cell cultures and animal models are discussed here. It introduces human intestine organ‐on‐chip (OoC) models as a promising alternative, capable of more accurately mimicking the intestinal microenvironment.

The finite elements for design of building walling made of thin-walled beams (rus) [PDF]

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2011
In modern society in Russia and abroad there have been observed a wide application of a metalware in industrial and civil engineering. Special place in the building industry is belonged to light steel thin-walled constructions, which have a lot of ...

Finsler Metrics with Bounded Cartan Torsions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The norm of Cartan torsion plays an important role for studying of immersion theory in Finsler geometry. Indeed, Finsler manifold with unbounded Cartan torsion can not be isometrically imbedded into any Minkowski space. In this paper, we find two subclasses of (?, ?)-metrics which have bounded Cartan torsion.

Probiotic‐Based Mineralized Living Materials to Produce Antimicrobial Yogurts

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The self‐assembly and mineralization of collagen in the presence of probiotics produces hybrid living materials that hosts and protects the cells. Intra‐ and interfibrillar mineralization of collagen fibers, as occurring in bone, results, respectively, in a bulk and single‐cell protective layer of cells, that survive in simulated gastric conditions and,

Thermally Drawn Shape and Stiffness Programmable Fibers for Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal drawing technique is adapted to fabricate Shape Memory Polymer Fibers (SMPFs) with programmable stiffness and shape. Multilumen and multimaterial SMPFs are developed for innovative medical devices: stiffness adjustable catheters, body temperature softening neural interfaces, and shape programmable cochlear implants.

An Intervertebral Disc (IVD) Regeneration Model Using Human Nucleus Pulposus Cells (iHNPCs) and Annulus Fibrosus Cells (iHAFCs)

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates hTert‐immortalized human nucleus pulposus (iHNPCs) and annulus fibrosus (iHAFCs) cells for intervertebral disc (IVD) regeneration and spinal fusion models. A 3D‐printed citrate‐based scaffold loaded with BMP9‐stimulated iHAFCs and BMP2‐stimulated iHNPCs effectively promotes bone and cartilage formation, mimicking the IVD ...

In Situ‐Gelling Antimicrobial Poly(oligoethylene glycol methacrylate)‐Based Hydrogels Integrating Bound Quaternary Ammonia Compounds and Antibiotic Functionalities for Effective Infected Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In situ‐gelling poly(oligoethylene glycol methacrylate) (POEGMA)‐based hydrogels exhibit broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity against both gram‐positive and gram‐negative bacteria based on the dual covalent attachment of quaternary ammonium (QA) groups and the antibiotic ciprofloxacin (CIP) into the hydrogel networks, enabling effective in vivo burn ...
