Impact of Inertia Control of DFIG-Based WT on Torsional Vibration in Drivetrain

IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, 2020
As wind power reaches a high penetration in power systems, inertia control is required in grid codes to improve the system frequency dynamics. This supplemental control will couple the mechanical system of wind turbines (WTs) with the electrical system ...

Rock-Breaking Mechanism Study of Axial and Torsional Impact Hammer and its Application in Deep Wells

Day 1 Mon, August 27, 2018, 2018
A brand new impact hammer–Axial & Torsional impact hammer (producing high-frequency axial and torsional impact forces simultaneously)–has been developed to improve the penetration rates and eliminate stick-slip vibrations in deep and ultra-deep wells ...

Residual torsional strength after impact of CFRP tubes

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2010
This paper investigates the residual torsional strength of cylindrical T300-carbon/epoxy tubular specimens damaged by low-velocity impacts. A total of 24 specimens were subjected to a 7 J transverse impact under various torsional preloads. First, the torsional strength of four different lamination sequences is studied.

Impact Response of Torsionally Coupled Base-isolated Structures

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2010
The seismic response of a single-story asymmetric structure supported on various base isolation systems during impact with adjacent structures is investigated. Eccentricities arising due to elastic forces in the columns at the top-deck and the restoring forces in the isolation systems at the base-raft are considered.

Coupled transverse and torsional vibrations of the marine propeller shaft with multiple impact factors

Ocean Engineering, 2019
An appropriate assessment of the dynamic behavior of a ship's marine propeller shaft is essential to enable the optional power delivery to the propeller and to minimize various vibrations during the rotation.

Seismic impact between adjacent torsionally coupled buildings

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2019
Abstract The problem of seismic impact between torsionally coupled multi story moment frame buildings is investigated in this paper. Five pairs of adjacent structures spaced at various separation distances are considered. The buildings are 4–10 stories in height. Although a common plan being symmetric with regard to lateral stiffness is considered, a

Impact of DC-Link Voltage Control on Torsional Vibrations in Grid-Forming PMSG Wind Turbines

IEEE transactions on energy conversion
This paper explores the impact of dc-link voltage control (DVC) on the torsional vibration of grid-forming permanent magnet synchronous generator wind turbines (GFM-WTs), where the DVC is adopted by the machine-side converter.

A novel experimental setup for axial-torsional coupled vibration impact-assisted PDC drill bit drilling.

Review of Scientific Instruments
The geological conditions of hot dry rock (HDR) reservoirs are complex. The geothermal mining of HDR faces major challenges in the drilling and construction of wells, fracturing to create storage, and flowing to extract heat.

Impact Torsion Experiments

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1955
In 1936, the author, working under Professor W. Mason, attempted to obtain a complete torque-time curve for impulsive torsional fracture and thus to obtain quantitative information on both yield and rupture phenomena. The forces were measured by piezo-electric methods and recorded photographically against a uniform time base.

Torsional Impacts on Quaterthiophene Segments Confined within Peptidic Nanostructures

Langmuir, 2019
The co-assembly behavior of peptide-π-peptide and peptide-alkyl-peptide triblock molecules that form one-dimensional (1D) nanostructures under acidic, aqueous environments is dependent on the peptide sequence and the torsional constraints imposed within the nanomaterial volume.
