Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

On the torsional energy of torus knots under infinitesimal bending

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2023
The article deals with the infinitesimal bending theory application to the knots theory. The impact of infinitesimal bending on the torsional energy at torus knots is considered, and the results show that it is not stationary under infinitesimal bending.

A New Large Impact Torsion Testing Machine

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, 1966
The large impact torsion testing machine which has recently been designed and constructed by the present authors, has the capacity of 100kg-m and the rotating speed from 100rpm to 2600rpm. This machine is fit to make intermittent loading, the detection of axial stress caused during the torsional deformation and the tests under combined stress by adding

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

The effect of high-frequency torsional impacts on the dynamic response of a drill string in a stick state

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
Stick–slip vibration is common in the oil well drilling process and is detrimental to down-hole equipment and drilling efficiency. In recent years, a new type of drilling technology, torsional impact drilling, has been developed to mitigate the stick ...

How tibial tubercle torsion impacts patellar stability: A biomechanics study

open access: yesOrthopaedics & Traumatology: Surgery & Research, 2020
A new factor for patellofemoral instability-external torsion of the tibial tubercle-has recently been described. The primary aim of this biomechanics study was to analyze the consequences of internal torsion tibial tubercle osteotomy (TTO) on an experimentally unstable patella.

Piezoresistive Monitoring of Carbon Nanomaterial‐Reinforced Epoxy Composites Under Cyclic and Fatigue Loading: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanomaterial‐reinforced epoxy composites exhibit pronounced piezoresistive behavior, enabling intrinsic damage sensing under cyclic and fatigue loading. This review critically compares carbon nanotube and graphene systems, correlating filler content, percolation threshold, and gauge factor with sensing stability and damage evolution.
