Trifluoromethoxylated Electron Acceptor Enabling Ternary Organic Solar Cells with over 20% Power Conversion Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this work, we introduce a trifluoromethoxy (OCF3) group as a pseudo‐halogen terminal group design for non‐fullerene acceptors, which combines strong inductive electron‐withdrawing ability with moderate resonance donation. The as‐synthesized BTP‐OCF3, when benchmarked against its methoxy analogue BTP‐OCH3, demonstrates narrowed bandgap ...

Structural instability of nonlinear plates modelling suspension bridges: mathematical answers to some long-standing questions

open access: yes, 2015
We model the roadway of a suspension bridge as a thin rectangular plate and we study in detail its oscillating modes. The plate is assumed to be hinged on its short edges and free on its long edges.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

Dynamic mode decomposition to retrieve torsional Alfvn waves

open access: yes, 2020
Dynamic mode decomposition (DMD) is utilised to identify the intrinsic signals arising from planetary interiors. Focusing on an axisymmetric quasi-geostrophic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) wave -called torsional Alfv n waves (TW) - we examine the utility of DMD in two types of MHD direct numerical simulations: Boussinesq magnetoconvection and anelastic ...
