Torsional modes in piezo helical springs
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1999Piezo springs have been studied for their advantages in receiver applications at low frequencies. In this paper, piezo helical springs shaped from curved unimorphs are proposed for actuator designs in which the torsional modes are used to obtain electroelastic conversion.

Ozil IP torsional mode versus combined torsional/longitudinal microcoaxial phacoemulsification
European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012Purpose. To compare the safety and efficacy of microcoaxial phacoemulsification surgeries performed with the Ozil Intelligent Phaco (IP) torsional mode and combined torsional/longitudinal ultrasound (US) mode using the Infiniti Vision System (Alcon Laboratories). Methods. In this prospective randomized comparative study, 60 eyes were assigned to 2.2-mm

Determination of Torsional Mode and Analysis of Torsional Resistance
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012At present, structural designers have many different views on determination of torsional mode. This paper adopts the structural mode factor and the mass participation factor method to determine structure torsional mode. Use the shear correction to simplify the calculation of structure torsion, derivate the relevant formulas of torsional effect, it has ...

Torsional oscillations of low mode
Solar Physics, 1985Standing wave torsional oscillations of wavenumber 1/2 and 1 hemisphere−1 are studied using an improved fit to Mount Wilson magnetograph data. These oscillations are seen to be in phase with each other and with the magnetic activity cycle, and seem best represented as a flexing of the differential rotation curve.

Torsional modes in multimethylammonium halides
Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 2, 1976The inelastic neutron scattering spectra of the multimethyl ammonium halides have been measured and compared with the Raman and infrared spectra of these compounds in the same energy region. From this comparison the internal torsional modes of the methyl groups have been assigned and also, where possible, the whole body librational modes of the ...

Coupling Phenomenon of Torsional Modes
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1989The level of coupling of the oscillatory mode A to the oscillatory mode B is a measure of tendency of mode B to interact and affect the frequency and/or the amplitude and/ or the damping of mode A. Although the coupling phenomenon of the low frequency (0.1-2.0 Hz) oscillatory modes of power systems has been investigated, however, the coupling ...

Implementing torsional-mode Doppler ladar
Applied Optics, 2002Laguerre-Gaussian laser modes carry orbital angular momentum as a consequence of their helical-phase front screw dislocation. This torsional beam structure interacts with rotating targets, changing the orbital angular momentum (azimuthal Doppler) of the scattered beam because angular momentum is a conserved quantity.

Trapped torsional modes in solid cylinders
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996An approximate theory is presented for torsional modes in a solid cylinder having a larger-diameter central section. Modes in a narrow frequency range just above the cutoff of each branch are ‘‘trapped’’ such that, in long samples, the amplitudes decay exponentially with distance from the central section.
