Protonation‐Induced Electron Density Redistribution Facilitates Aggregation in PNNP Dicopper Hydride Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Copper(I) hydride complexes often exhibit diverse aggregation behavior that can profoundly influence their structure and reactivity. In this study we use a combined experimental and computational approach to identify key structural an electronic factors that govern aggregation in PNNP dicopperhydride complexes.

Controlling Aggregation‐Induced Emission by Sterics in Nitrogen–Boron–Nitrogen (NBN)‐Doped Tetraphenylethylene‐Like Molecular Propellers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Nitrogen–boron–nitrogen (NBN)‐substituted molecular propellers are presented as structural framework for aggregation induced emission (AIE) applications. Steric hindrance is revealed to steer maximum‐AIE behavior, leading to refined control over assembly‐induced luminescence.

Torsional actuation and vari-stiffness characteristics of SMA/basalt hybrid braided composite tubes

open access: yesSmart materials and structures (Print)
Shape memory alloy hybrid composite (SMAHC) tubes have the potential to actively control the torsional stiffness of structures. In this work, shape memory alloy (SMA) wires orthogonally braided with basalt fiber were heated by electricity to generate the

Multiple Dimerization Modes in Thiocarboxylate Paddlewheel Complexes: A Comprehensive View of Energy Landscapes from DFT Calculations and Statistics

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Staggered, square, and heavily bent dimers occur in the five known solvatomorphs of paddlewheel (PW) complex [PtVO(SOCPh)4]. These and other structural motifs are well within energetic reach due to the shallow potential energy surface that guides dimerization and are included in a revised classification of available structural data on heterobimetallic ...

Concepts and analysis for precision segmented reflector and feed support structures [PDF]

open access: yes
Several issues surrounding the design of a large (20-meter diameter) Precision Segmented Reflector are investigated. The concerns include development of a reflector support truss geometry that will permit deployment into the required doubly-curved shape ...

Energy Landscapes in Chemical Reactions and Transport

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Kinetics/dynamics of chemical reactivity and transport of chemical species in a solid are both determined by the energy landscape in which they take place. Discussing common grounds but also distinct differences may help in advancing the understanding in both fields.

Carbon Dots: An Emerging Frontier for Green and Sustainable Civil Engineering Materials

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Traditional civil engineering materials (CE materials) are usually involved with high‐energy consumption during manufacturing, significant maintenance costs, and substantial environmental impacts throughout their life cycles. The progress of nanotechnology is catalyzing a green and sustainable transformation within the field.

Research on transmission characteristics and torsional vibration control of hybrid transmission wind turbines

open access: yesSustainable Energy Technologies and Assessments
Abstract As wind turbines become larger and move into deeper sea, their operating environment is getting more and more harsh, which puts higher stability requirements of the transmission chain. The mechanical-hydraulic hybrid transmission (MHHT) combines mechanical and hydraulic systems to improve transmission stability.
