Axial muscle‐fibre orientations in larval zebrafish

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 517-533, April 2025.
In 4 days post‐fertilization zebrafish larvae, the fast axial muscle fibres follow helical trajectories that taper towards the tail. Adjacent muscle fibres form substantial angles relative to each other to accommodate this pattern. Using a novel semi‐automatic method, we quantified 3D fibre angles over the whole muscle volume.

An Ultrafast Time Resolved Infrared and Computational Study of the Photochemistry of Ethyl 2‐Diazo‐3,3,3‐Trifluoropropanoate (CF3CN2CO2Et)

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2026.
The photochemistry of ethyl 2‐diazo‐3,3,3‐trifluoropropanoate shows that its excited singlet state undergoes internal conversion, carbene formation, and diazirine formation. The resulting singlet carbene reacts through solvent‐dependent pathways, forming ylides in methanol and acetonitrile or a C–Cl insertion product in chloroform.

Carbon Dots: An Emerging Frontier for Green and Sustainable Civil Engineering Materials

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
Traditional civil engineering materials (CE materials) are usually involved with high‐energy consumption during manufacturing, significant maintenance costs, and substantial environmental impacts throughout their life cycles. The progress of nanotechnology is catalyzing a green and sustainable transformation within the field.

Dataset of Microstructural and Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Compacted Loess Modified by Calcium Oxalate Crystals: Implications for Geotechnical Engineering in Loess Regions

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 13, Issue 3, July 2026.
Dynamic torsional shear tests and SEM/PCAS analysis were combined to characterize calcium oxalate crystal‐modified compacted loess. The dataset connects OA concentration, damping‐ratio behaviour, pore‐structure evolution and Pearson correlations, supporting micro–macro interpretation of chemically modified loess.

The Versatile Structural World of Methanedi‐ and Trisulfonic Acid and Their Salts

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2026.
The solid‐state structures of the CH4‐derived polysulfonic acids methanedisulfonic acid (MDSA) and methanetrisulfonic acid (MTSA) are presented for the first time. Additionally, a broad overview over possible MDS and MTS salts, containing mostly group I cations, is given and their solid‐state structures are analyzed, showing the structural versatility ...
