Advanced Composite Technologies for High‐Performance Sports Equipment: Materials, Manufacturing, and Sustainability Perspectives

open access: yesPolymers for Advanced Technologies, Volume 37, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Advanced composite materials have become the leading material platform for high‐performance sports equipment, enabling superior strength‐to‐weight performance, stiffness tailoring, and enhanced functional integration compared with conventional materials. This review summarizes state‐of‐the‐art developments across multiple sporting disciplines,

Triplet 4‐Nitrenemethyl‐Pyridine‐N‐Oxide: A Model Alkyl Nitrene Isolated in Cryogenic Matrices

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 39, Issue 5, May 2026.
The simplest triplet alkyl nitrene bearing a pyridine‐N‐oxide moiety was generated by direct irradiation (λ > 350 nm) of the corresponding azide in an Ar matrix at 15 K. Quantum tunneling 1,2‐H shift to the corresponding imine is thermodynamically favorable but does not occur due to a high‐energy barrier (~36 kcal mol−1).

Auxetic Behavior in JUC‐530: The Effect of Interstitial Molecules on Framework Deformation

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), Volume 263, Issue 5, May 2026.
Auxetic behavior in the JUC‐530 covalent organic framework is predicted by molecular modeling to arise from a cooperative tetrahedral‐flattening mechanism within the framework topology. Guest molecule loading (N2, CH4, benzene) is shown to suppress the negative Poisson's ratio response.

Computational Mechanics Model to Evaluate the Structural Maintenance of Catenated Hydrogen‐Bonded Organic Frameworks

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 27, 14 May 2026.
This study presents a computational framework treating crystalline HOFs as adaptive atomic‐scale interfaces. Catenated HOFs preserve lattice stability under load while enabling auxetic deformation and reversible nonlinearity. The results provide direct evidence that supramolecular interactions govern macroscopic resilience and structural adaptability ...

HRTEM Imaging and Mechanistic Insights Into Carbon Nanotube Nucleation and Growth on Fe Nanocatalysts in a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 9, 8 May 2026.
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were successfully debundled from Tuball soots produced using iron nanocatalysts in arc discharge thermal plasma and distributed on monolayer graphene for HRTEM imaging for mechanistic insights into CNT synthesis. Zigzag single‐wall or double‐wall CNTs were identified.
