High-performance control of dual-inertia servo-drive systems using low-cost integrated SAW torque transducers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
—This paper provides a systematic comparative study of compensation schemes for the coordinated motion control of two-inertia mechanical systems. Specifically, classical proportional–integral (PI), proportional–integral–derivative (PID), and resonance ...

A Biologically‐Architected Wear and Damage‐Resistant Nanoparticle Coating From the Radular Teeth of Cryptochiton stelleri

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The ultrahard teeth of mollusks that feed on rocky substrates contain a wear‐resistant coating on their surfaces consisting of densely packed mesocrystalline magnetic nanoparticles within an organic matrix. These coatings display significant hardness and toughness through their highly controlled mesocrystalline architectures.

Mechanism Analysis and Suppression Strategy of Torsional Vibrations of DFIG Shaft System Considering Torque Control of Wind Turbine

open access: yesZhongguo dianli, 2022
The shafting model of the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) can be equivalent to the wind turbine mass connected to the generator mass via the flexible shaft, and the shaft system has great flexibility and low damping and encounters torsional ...

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Experimental investigation on the dynamic characteristics and transverse vibration instabilities of transmission belts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Serpentine belt drives are often used in front end accessory drive of automotive engine. Dynamic characteristics of belts play an important role in the behavior of such transmission and are inputs of simulation software. Moreover, free belt spans exhibit

Torsional vibration characteristics analysis of DFIG‐based wind farm and its equivalent model [PDF]

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2017
As large‐scale wind farms (WFs) are integrated with the power grid, the interaction between the WF and the grid may excite torsional vibration of the shaft of the wind turbine. To study the shaft's torsional vibration characteristics of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)‐based WF, a detailed small‐signal model of DFIG is established first.
