Community‐informed and codesigned research to understand the impacts of railways on wildlife

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 5, October 2025.
Abstract Trains cause mortalities of several animal species, but the ecological impacts of railways are understudied. Most research on wildlife–train collisions has focused on large mammals, but understanding railway‐specific risks for underrepresented taxa, especially vulnerable species, is important for developing effective mitigation strategies ...

Spatial and temporal variability of immature green turtle abundance and somatic growth in Puerto Rico

open access: yesEndangered Species Research, 2014
Understanding conservation needs relies on robust estimates of key population parameters, such as survival, abundance and somatic growth. We investigated the somatic growth and abundance dynamics of 2 aggregations of immature green turtles, at Tortuga ...

Long‐Term Incubation Duration Decline Indicates Climate‐Change Driven Feminization of Three Sea Turtle Species in Florida, USA

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 10, October 2025.
We analysed more than 110,000 sea turtle nests from three species across Florida to track climate‐driven changes in incubation duration, a simple proxy for hatchling sex. Our results reveal widespread shortening of incubation periods and thus increasing feminisation, but also identify geographic and seasonal refuges where more males are produced.
